Kitchen and Bath Showrooms Los Angeles County

On a Rohl with Michael Berman

Since 2004, Irvine-based Rohl, manufacturer of luxury faucets, sinks and fixtures, has worked with Los Angeles designer Michael Berman to create a range of dynamic kitchen and bath fixtures that are steeped in history yet utterly contemporary. New to the designer's American Moderne collection, which includes the Zephyr and Gotham lines (seen at the end of the above slideshow), is the aptly named Graceline.

The latest design (which picked up a silver award at the Best of KBIS Bath show earlier this year) was inspired by the glamorous ocean liners of a century ago. “At the beginning of the early 1930s, the Art Deco influence morphed into what we now know as the Streamline Moderne movement,” explains Berman. “Its emphasis on curving forms, long horizontal lines and sometimes nautical elements, was both a reaction to Art Deco and a reflection of the economic times.” For Graceline, Berman created an elegant arch for the faucet’s spout, dial-shaped handles reminiscent of ship cleats (the metal “hooks” that secure mooring lines), and handles with thumb depressions and ridged escutcheons that further add to the sophistication. The line, which includes faucets, tub fillers and shower systems, is available in satin or polished nickel, as well as two new finishes introduced especially for the design: satin gold and French brass.
