We were absolutely moved when we read Watermark’s recent blog post about their partnership with Oakland-based non-profit organization Watering Minds. Many of our vendors give in the most caring of ways and we try to highlight there work here on Design on Tap, but when we saw these alarming statistics in big, bold numbers on our screens, we felt compelled to share their story with all of you.

50% of the world’s school children don’t have access to clean water

6,000 children die daily from waterborne illnesses—that’s 90 school buses full of kids every single day who die from something entirely preventable

Clean water at schools improves attendance by 75%

Please read their post, Working to Deliver Fresh Water to Schools Across the World, and explore Watering Minds’ website. Why? Because you, too, can help. A donation of just $2.00 can provide a child with access to safe water for an entire school year.

“We sell specialized, relatively expensive faucets when there are so many in the world who can’t even afford clean water. Working with Watering Minds enables us to not only work with those who can afford specialty plumbing but also help those who can’t.” Avi Abel, President of Watermark
