Cheers! Dacor's new Wine Fridge is Here

One of our most favorite debuts at KBIS this year is Dacor’s game-changing, three-zone wine refrigerator that’s as sexy as it is smart.

Until very recently, dual temperature zones were the standard feature of wine refrigerators: cold for white, cool for red. But wine enthusiasts, and especially collectors, have pushed the market to improve ideas and designs. “Our sales associates are telling me three zones is not a requested feature, or a very rare request,” our Russ Diamond told Fortune magazine after KBIS 2019, where Dacor introduced its new 24-inch integrated wine cellar.

The design is part of the company’s Modernist collection and is a fully integrated, full-sized cellar that holds up to 100 bottles of wine in three—yes, three—independently cooled zones, all stored behind a triple layer of argon-filled gas that protects the wine from UV and IR rays. The column has four humidity sensors (one in each cooling zone and one outside the unit) to perfectly control the humidity level between 50% –80%, while Dacor’s own proprietary cooling technology keeps temperature fluctuations within ±.3°F. As well, vibration is minimized through anti-vibration mounts, while the three separate air purification systems help prevent potential cork contamination. Using IQ Connect or the SmartThings app, owners can even view real-time updates on the status of the refrigerator.

It’s the perfect home addition for the person who wants more than a wine rack but less than a cellar. It’s also proving a handy addition for those with a proper wine cellar but who want easier access for their more ready-to-drink collections.

What Makes Three Zones so Special?

  • The primary reason for multi-zone integration is to give oenophiles greater flexibility for storing a range of wine varietals and to more easily manage their collections.

  • A third zone offers users the ability to cater to a greater range of needs: a higher temperature for reds, an intermediate temperature for whites and a chilled setting for Champagne and sparkling wines.

  • The precise temperature control of three independent climate zones enables enthusiasts to age part of their collection in cellar-like conditions, while separating out other bottles that should be enjoyed now.
