The Eclectic Catalogue of Horus

This week we’re bringing you a round up of the latest designs from French luxury bathroom manufacturer Horus. The firm was founded in 1980 by designer Gilles Nortier and has continually produced some of the most beautiful taps in our showroom, and in a spectacular variety of styles to boot. The company, which began with a single line called Julia (which is still one of their best sellers), now offers a catalogue of more than twenty lines, all of which exude the brand’s signature artistry and technological skill.

With a staff of only about fifty, Horus is one of our smaller firms. Much of the design work is done in house but over the years they’ve brought in designers like Pierre Casenove, who is perhaps best known for his cast-bronze lamps. From its nearly 30,000-square-foot facility in Obernai, a commune in the Alsace region of France, Horus sends its goods across the globe—more than half of their production is exported to the United States and Russia. Clients include many well-known architects and designers, and even one Thai prince, but they’re also a favorite source for commercial projects. Over the last few years, they’ve had the honor of outfitting some of the world’s most exclusive hotels, like the St. Regis Singapore and the Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa in Tahiti. Closer to home, they’ve also supplied fixtures to the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, the InterContinental Bordeaux–Le Grand Hôtel, and the Byblos in St. Tropez. That range of projects is testament to their range of styles. Whether you’re looking for a strikingly contemporary design or one with historical tones, take a closer look at Horus.
