A Trio of New Tubs from Hydro Systems

Millennium, Charlize and Mizu—three alluring tub designs that lure you in with their sirens’ song.

The Millennium

Designed by Jason Lai and Stephanie Leese of Los Angeles-based firm L2 Interiors, the Millennium is freestanding design that seamlessly integrating with its customizable, colorful finishes. From classic marble and travertine to of-the-moment trends like subway tile, the flexibility of the Millennium allows you to create your own ‘wow’ moment. The designers took their inspiration from the Crain Communications Building in downtown Chicago. Clad in alternating bands of glass, aluminum and stainless steel, the structure’s exterior is slashed by a prominent vertical slit, which draws the eye to the upper portion of the building. Most noted for its unusual diamond-shaped upper façade, the building becomes an even greater showstopper at night, when its slanted apex is illuminated.

Charlize

This tub takes its inspiration from the fleur-de-lis, a stylized lily composed of three petals. The tub’s flared-out shape creates a transitional design that’s at once classic and modern. Equipped with a built-in faucet deck, Charlize’s trumpeted, fountain-like form is perfectly scaled to provide optimal lumbar comfort at each end, with just the right dose of indulgence.

Mizu

Mizu is a clever new iteration of the traditional Japanese soaking tub known as an ofuro. Thousands of tiny heated bubbles provide a sensory experience and unparalleled therapeutic effects to soak away stress and fatigue. The Mizu’s steep-sided form has the added benefit of fitting beautifully into small or irregularly shaped places while providing a deep soak for seated bathing. Consider it a space for restoration and meditation. The design was also partly inspired by the Peace Pagoda found in San Francisco that was designed by Yoshio Taniguchi and presented to the city as a gift from Osaka in 1968.
